Orchard Camp

Orchard Camp was built in 2005 in the orchard on the C4L campus to provide a venue where capacity building in in both youth and children could be facilitated.  Young people are more than welcome at C4L - they are a top priority.

There are four tent "villages" on the Orchard Campgrounds, consisting of two or three tents each – ten in all.  In each tent are 7 steel beds - 5 for campers and 2 for counselors, and each village has its own ablution block with showers, toilets & sinks.  Two of the “villages “are on one side of the camp grounds with other two on the opposite side, so that both young men or boys and young women or girls can attend camp concurrently.

There is a separate camp kitchen to serve the campers, and a hands-on studio for arts and crafts.  The outdoor facilities consist of a large playing field for sports and games, and the obstacle course with climbing wall for team building exercises.  The amphitheatre is perfect for sing-alongs and camper get-togethers, although there is also a large meeting room available for evening programs or inclement weather.  Additionally there are plenty of quiet places on the grounds for small groups and one-on-one counselling sessions.

The C4L Youth programme and the Orphans and Vulnerable Children's programme use the Orchard Camp facility during the summer and winter school breaks when C4L runs  “psychosocial support” resilience building camps.  However, the Orchard Camp facilities are available during the balance of the year for other groups holding camps, retreats, and functions. It is ideal for scouting and guiding jamborees,  youth rallies, or holiday camps.
