C4L Staff and Governance
Founding Fathers
The core team of the academic faculty of C4L are real development practitioners – not salaried, but self employed, demand-driven, highly qualified training providers and social innovators.
Chuck Stephens - Born in the then Belgian Congo, now DRC, to Canadian missionaries, schooled in Uganda, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Graduated from Trent University (Peterborough, Ontario). After several years of dairy farming, attended Regent College (Vancouver, BC) in Christian Studies. Served as a rural development worker first in Angola for 3 years with a national church organization, then in Mozambique for 3 years with World Vision in food aid, and finally in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for 3 years as Operations Manager of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Returned to Africa in 1991 to launch an NGO management consultancy, focusing on managerial capacity building for non-profit groups. This private practice was one of the roots that in 1999 grew into C4L, of which he is currently Executive Director. Author of training manuals available in both English and Portuguese to help leaders, trainers and managers to work more effectively in management, on:

- Managing Work
Alfredo Mazive - A Mozambican, Alfredo oversees operations at the Wumunhu campus in Matola, capital of Maputo province.

Administrative Staff & Volunteers
The Administrative staff of C4L includes Sue Mushwana, Receptionist; Thuli Mnisi, Admin Officer; Prince Hlungwane, IT officer; Sam Nkambule, OVC project manager; and Donald, music director.
C4L has welcomed international volunteers in the past from Reachout To Africa, Mennonite Central Committee, USA Peace Corps and German Development Service. Two German volunteers, Korbi and Julyan are currently at C4L as well as Carmen from Paraguay.

Support Staff
Atrecia Mpangane handles campus bookings and assures that support staff provide a high standard of hospitality. Support staff includes Winnie & Lizzie inside and Sambo, Vusi, Patrick and Dudu outside.
Board of Directors
C4L is directed by a voluntary board of nine women and men meeting regularly, at a minimum four times a year, to provide corporate governance. The officers are elected by the Board for bi-annual terms.
